  • Don't the current end-of-life communications tools do the job?

Yes, but MyEpilog was designed to address the challenges that individuals and families face, as well as to fill many of the gaps and flaws in existing solutions. As a result, it has distinct features, privacy features, and security features that go above and beyond traditional approaches.

  • Isn't my death about me?

Not when we consider those who will be left behind. In this context, helping others find closure is as important as almost anything else. Read more about our emotional duty.

Grief is a natural human emotion that occurs when we lose someone close to us. The death of anyone has an impact on those closest to them, including children, spouses, partners, lovers, and friends.

  • What if I am not digitally literate and don't use computers?

Despite being a digital tool, it is as simple as WhatsApp. The product is intuitive and straightforward, especially when creating messages with text and video clips.

  • Does MyEpilog LITE replace a will?

No. MyEpilog communicates your words and wishes. It is NOT a legal document, and any such testamentary document or legal dimension or regulation will take preference. However, there is often a delay in reading wills, and personal preferences are either not codified elsewhere. Therefore the opportunity can be missed to communicate them timeously, or at all.

  • How safe is my data?

Because the security of your data is our top priority, we have implemented all appropriate and reasonable security measures in accordance with industry practices as required by the major privacy and data protection laws.

We will not share your information with any commercial third parties and will ensure that your Personal Information is collected and used correctly, legally, and openly.

  • What personal information do you gather and for how long?

We only collect the information required to fulfil our legitimate purpose of communicating about end-of-life planning.

We do not collect any special personal information, and we will delete the data once we no longer need it.

You can download, update, or delete your data at any time.

  • Why do you require nominations for Custodians?

Custodians are essential in MyEpilog. Among the reasons for this are:

One of MYEpilog's main goals is to alleviate the burden on the immediate family, and custodians help to accomplish this.

Custodians confirm the death, and our process requires double confirmation to ensure this is the case.

Custodians are responsible for ensuring that notifications and messages are sent out at the correct times.

  • Do you store passwords?

No. We recommend you store your passwords and account details offline somewhere safe, for example, with your lawyer, or use a specialist password app like LastPass.

  • Couldn't I just store my letters in a drawer or online?

No, there are issues with delivery, safety and control.  You risk them being lost, destroyed and not making it to their destination.

My Epilog LITE ensures the delivery of your words and wishes to the intended recipients.

    Please note:

*Contact details must be kept up-to-date.

  • Isn't my spouse aware of what I want if something were to happen to me?

Yes and no. For starters, why should they be burdened by the fact that they know what you would've wanted?

Second, what happens if they are incapacitated and are further burdened by regret if they know you did not receive the farewell you would have prefered?

  • Is it important how my death will be communicated ?

Yes. First and foremost, those close to you must be treated with special care.

Second, you know everyone you'd want to keep up to date and they might not be in your phone book or on social media. There may also be people in those locations who are less important to you or with whom you choose not to interact. You understand which platforms are appropriate. For these purposes, MyEpilog avoids social media. However, depending on your individual preferences, you can specify in a custom wish that you want different forums to be used.

  • How should I get going?

You might find the prospect of tackling MyEpilog difficult. It necessitates a methodical, segmented approach. Remember that our self-help facility allows you to seek advice on any topic.  READ MORE

You can also select the green 'Help' tab anytime in the webapp.

  • Isn't an Eulogy supposed to be about me?

Yes, in the traditional sense, but you can leave living eulogies to tell people how special they are if you are unable to tell them yourself.

  • Why is it necessary to document my preferences?

Many people have strong ideas about how they want their lives to be commemorated, whereas others are more open to whatever happens.

For those with specific preferences, it can be very helpful to provide these details, and My Epilog provides a communications platform that allows you to process this information while remaining confident that your loved ones will easily take care of it. Please note, MyEpilog is not a legal document and any testamentary declarations or other legal aspects will always take preference.

  • Do you provide Living Wills or Advance Directives?

No. MyEpilog was explicitly created to provide a communications platform that is activated after someone passes away. As a result, we will be unable to manage pre-mortem documents because your profile will not have been activated.

  • Should I leave sensitive information online?

No, due to the global rise in cybercrime in all of its forms.

Consider leaving account, social media, and password codes with a trusted individual or using a password manager app like LastPass. When you activate your MYEpilog account, our MyWishes feature will immediately send the authorised person's contact information to your custodians.

  • Can I be certain that my Last Wishes will be honoured?

Unfortunately, no. It's nice to have personalised wishes that mean something to you. However, we must consider the legal ramifications and whether those we leave behind should be burdened with potentially exposing themselves to ensure your final mark or desires. Regardless of how sad it is, we should think of creative solutions to those problems, such as a seaside bench, rather than ashes, which may violate local regulations. In this regard, please see our Terms and Conditions.

  • How do you give me access to and control over my data?

MyEpilog LITE was explicitly designed to allow you to see your data and change or update it as needed. You can also download your data or permanently delete your account if you prefer.
